Shipping Costs Update

Most beloved friends,
We have received numerous reports regarding the excessively high shipping costs displayed on the BackerKit platform, and our logistics team spent the entire day (even skipping their afternoon tea break) investigating and resolving this issue, of which we were previously unaware.
We have identified the problem, found a solution, and are currently working on implementing it. While providing you with all the details regarding the situation, we would also like to take this opportunity to clarify the production and fulfillment processes behind a Kickstarter project, in order to ensure maximum transparency and understanding.
Production
Copies of Rumours and Ribbons will be manufactured in China by LongPack, an industry-leading company capable of guaranteeing quality and professionalism. Some particularly fortunate Misses have already had the opportunity to appreciate the quality of the materials at conventions, where they played with the prototypes that were sent to us as print samples.
Logistics
Once production is complete, your copies of the game will be handed over to international freight forwarders, who will take charge of the products and divide them into three groups according to destination: Europe, North America, and Asia.
The copies destined for Europe and North America will then be loaded onto two container ships and transported to the continental logistics centers, known as hubs, located in the United States and the Netherlands. From there, the final stage of the journey will begin.
Delivery to Backers
Once the games arrive at the port and are transported to the appropriate hub, the fulfillment partners will assemble each individual parcel through a process known as pick and parting. Every backer has a unique code listing the items they purchased, which will be sorted and packed into individual boxes ready to be handed over to local carriers, who will then deliver the games directly to your homes.
The shipping fees requested through the BackerKit platform cover only this final stage of the logistics process, namely the shipment from the hub to your address. All previous transportation and logistics stages are entirely covered by us.
Increase in Shipping Costs
Many of you reported that the shipping cost shown on BackerKit was significantly higher than the amount listed in our shipping table during the campaign.
Following a thorough investigation by our team, who promptly contacted both our logistics partners and the platform itself, we discovered that the pricing issue affects only the EU1 region. This region was subject to an automatic rate increase based on the average shipping costs of the individual countries included within it.
The ongoing rise in energy and fuel costs has caused shipping rates in certain countries to increase substantially, resulting in an average rate for the EU1 region that is considerably higher than the estimates we made before launching the Rumours and Ribbons campaign.
It is important to remember that we have neither control over nor profit from these costs, as they are entirely dedicated to supporting the logistics network.
Nevertheless, we have decided to absorb these additional costs ourselves. For every backer in the EU1 region, we will cover both the shipping increase and the related tax, bringing the final cost back to the amount originally indicated in the shipping table shown during the campaign.
To do this, we will add a credit to your BackerKit cart equal to the amount of the increase, so that when the Pledge Manager closes, the amount you pay will match the figure originally communicated during the campaign.
Of course, any add-ons added to your pledge may result in a slightly higher shipping cost, since the weight of the package – and therefore the shipping rate – will increase. In those cases, the discount will still be applied proportionally based on the originally planned shipping rate.
VAT
As is the case with the vast majority of Kickstarter projects, VAT is calculated after the campaign has ended.
This is because VAT rates vary significantly from country to country and can only be accurately calculated once a shipping address has been provided. The same applies to Rumours and Ribbons, as indicated both in the Shipping section and in the FAQ section of the campaign page, as shown in the images below.
In-Person Pickup at Bologna Play or at Our Headquarters
We are pleased to announce that backers will have the option to collect their copy of the game and any additional components in person during Bologna Play 2027.
PLEASE NOTE: Should copies of the game be unavailable for collection during Bologna Play 2027 due to extraordinary circumstances beyond our control (such as production or logistics delays, wars, pandemics, etc.), backers will still be able to collect their copies from our headquarters in Bologna.
At the time of collection, you will be reimbursed for the shipping fees paid during the Pledge Manager, minus the cost of transporting the games from the hub to our headquarters.
In any case, to take advantage of this collection option – whether at the convention or at our headquarters – interested backers must notify us no later than July 10, 2026, which is the closing date of the Pledge Manager and the deadline for locking shipping addresses.

Late Pledges
Late Pledges are available as well, to anyone that did not back the project during the Kickstarter campaign. We decided to maintain the same pricing of the original campaign! So, do not linger and get your copy of this very successful game! Late Pledges will close on the same day of the Pledge Manager, July 10th.
You can find the pre-order store at this link. PLEASE NOTE: if you are a Kickstarter backer, wait for the email to access the Pledge Manager. Late Pledges are for all who did NOT back the project during the campaign.
What is the Pledge Manager?
The Pledge Manager is the tool used after the end of a Kickstarter campaign to:
- choose your preferred game language
- add extra products (add-ons or additional copies)
- collect shipping addresses
- calculate shipping and VAT costs
You have until July 10th to fill in all the required information.
Pledge manager step by step
Here’s a step-by-step guide to the Pledge Manager on BackerKit.
STEP 1 - Choose your Country
This is used by BackerKit to calculate shipping fees and VATS.
You can also switch your pledge level, if you want to upgrade to a higher tier and get awesome rewards from the parlour.
STEP 2 - Choose your preferred language
You can do this for each item in your pledge that is language dependent: the base game, the Jewel of the Season expansion, the A Lady’s Society Papers mini-expansion and the promo cards.
STEP 3 - Select add-ons
Next, you can add as many items as you want to your cart. Do you want an additional miniature set in case one mini ends up melting into a cup of boiling tea? Add it now! If any add-on has a language choice, you can pick your preferred one, as you did before.
STEP 4 - Shipping address
Now fill in the details of your address.
STEP 5 - Shipping fees and VAT
Next, the system will automatically calculate the shipping and VAT fees, based on your Country and on the weight of the final order. Carriages have a cost, you know?
If you upgraded to a different tier level and if you selected any add-ons during the previous step, you will now see the difference in the total cost.
Insert your credit card details and then proceed to the final review page. If everything is correct, you can place your order. Remember that you have time to revert and edit your order until the Pledge Manager closes on July 10th.
That’s all. Pretty simple, isn’t it?

If you reserved the mini-expansion A Lady’s Society Papers via the pre-campaign page, you will find it already linked to your Kickstarter pledge.
This is the same with the Early Bird gift, the first player cameo brooch.

the Season draws to a close… but before the lights fade from the ballroom, let us raise our cups and toast together to the success of Rumours & Ribbons.
These past three years have been a whirlwind of emotions: nights spent playtesting, long design meetings, conventions under scorching sun and pouring rain made lighter only by your enthusiasm at our tables… and now, at last, we have reached our destination. Rumours and Ribbons is a reality!
Let us take a moment to celebrate: a Regency toast of tea and smiles to honour those who supported, played, loved, and shared in the chatter throughout this incredible campaign. This is for you, who made all of this possible and gave meaning to our efforts.

But it would hardly be proper for Misses to display so many emotions in public, so we shall endeavour to remain composed a little longer. But just enough time to share what comes next…

Two expansions in one elegant box
The Season grows ever more crowded, and the drawing rooms of polite society are abuzz with whispers of new heroines, new gentlemen, and royal favours ready to alter the fate of every Miss.
Today we are delighted to present a closer look at the two exclusive expansions for Rumours and Ribbons, available together in a refined Bridgerton-inspired box. Both expansions included in the expansion box enrich the gameplay experience, making it more varied and engaging.
👗 The Gown (Debutantes Expansion)
A couple of new families have made their entrance into the Ton… allow us to introduce the Hawthorne sisters and their “friends”: 6 new Misses, ready to claim prestige and recognition within the neighbourhood. Play as Daphne, Penelope, and other new heroines inspired by Bridgerton: you may replace the original characters or mix them together for a delightful Regency multiverse experience.
This expansion also includes 6 new gentleman Suitors and their corresponding Gossip cards, offering fresh strategies and new synergies in your pursuit of prestige.
👑 The Crown (Queen’s Favour Expansion)
Word has spread faster than an arrow: Her Majesty the Queen will personally attend the opening ball of the Season! What an opportunity for those who aspire to the highest honours at court.
The Queen’s Favour introduces a new Location to the game board, featuring a unique ability that allows you to activate the effects of 10 Queen’s Favour cards. Throughout the game and during the Balls, Misses may collect Diamonds to offer the Queen in exchange for her favour. But beware! Her Majesty’s mood may change without warning.

🪶 A matter of Society
The A Lady's Society Papers mini-expansion was created as a reward for pre-launch, and it was initially dedicated to those who believed in the project in advance. But we have received a lot of comments and requests to give access to this mini-expansion to regular backers during the campaign. So, great news! The mini-expansion is now available as an add-on for those who wish to include it during the campaign. You can easily edit your pledge and get this add-on whenever you want.
This mini-expansion introduces a delightfully mischievous new gameplay element: a deck of 12 tarot-sized event cards, enriched with sharp observations and scandalous revelations from “A Lady”, the most feared anonymous voice in high society. Her words, as cutting as they are irresistible, will confront your Misses with new scandals and unexpected twists capable of overturning the course of the game in the most surprising ways.

The Dance Has Only Just Begun
In any Season worthy of the name, the opening dance is but a prelude. Our campaign has only just begun, and we cannot contain our excitement about all the new details we are eager to reveal… but first, we wish to address a few clarifications and answer the questions you have so kindly shared with us over these past hours:
For Our “Early Birds” – For all those who choose to join the campaign within the first 48 hours, we are pleased to confirm that the first player cameo brooch is already yours! When we open the Pledge Manager, you will find this complimentary item already included in your order, with no further steps required, except for the entering of your preferred language and address.
The Mini-Expansion and the $1 Reservation Details – Just as with the Early Bird reward, those who pre-ordered the mini-expansion A Lady’s Society Papers will see it automatically added to their pledge at the conclusion of the campaign. A small but important note: if you made your $1 reservation using an email address different from your Kickstarter account, we kindly ask that you contact us. A Most Amusing Diversion

From our very first sketches, we have wished for the card illustrations to be not only pleasing to the eye, but to vividly evoke the most beloved scenes from the novels of our beloved Jane Austen, a literary universe we hold so dear.
